Welcome Stephen and Carrie to the Butchers Arms

Hi there. We are Carrie and Steve, originally from Liverpool and Kent respectively. We have a beautiful dog called Alan who you can’t miss as he’s rather large. He does however think he is a lap dog! Although you will not see Alan when you are drinking & dining.

We have most recently been working for Marston’s Brewery for over 4 years and we were last based with them in Holyhead, Anglesey. Between us we have around 23 years’ experience in this industry. Back in Anglesey we had a 200 seater pub/restaurant and before that a six bedroom hotel with a 160 seater restaurant and bar downstairs in the lovely town of Hoylake on the Wirral.

Steve is a chef and has quite a few strings to his bow….. He has even cooked for celebrities like Madonna and Sting! He has a real passion for food and loves to experiment and give classic dishes a twist. He has produced a core menu for the pub and will keep it interesting by adding exciting specials which will change continually.

Carrie is a hands on front of house manager, she has worked in this industry for a long time. She lived for 8 years in Spain running nightclubs with 3000+ people capacity. Carrie has managed numerous restaurants and pubs in this country too.

We are both very excited about our new venture and look forward to meeting everybody if we haven’t already. We would also like to thank the community for being so welcoming to us. We are really happy to be here and hope that we can make The Butchers Arms the best it has been!

Butchers Arms Update – 2016 05 12

We welcome our excellent new tenant landlords Stephen and Carrie. All food is freshly cooked and the specials board changes regularly. There is a range of dishes to suit all tastes.

There is a position of a Commis Chef available so please contact Steve or Carrie if you are interested or know of someone who may be.

The bank holiday has been very busy with sales of nearly 600 drink sales on Saturday alone and numerous meals.

 The Butchers Arms AGM is Saturday the 2nd July at 5pm. Please let me know if you are able to attend.

There will be a hot buffet & vegetarian option also, this will be served at 7pm.

The new Butchers Arms website will be up and running soon, I will however inform you in due course when it is live.

The Butchers Arms walking group, has with the light nights, started meeting for its fortnightly Wednesday night walk followed by supper in the pub. For further information or to join the mailing list please contact me at at kitty.s65@btinternet.ccom

 The Lyvennet Activity Group is coordinated by Joan Raine with support from other committee members. Joan has been successfully running a lunch club on the first Thursday in every Month. Anyone wishing to join the lunch club please contact Joan direct for more information on 01931-715351

Lyvennet Activity Group has run various fund raising events too, which has raised thousands of pounds for different charities. The last event in April raised £1,350 for Penrith Mountain Rescue Team.

The Charity music fest with live music and a hog roast is on Saturday the 13th August from 1pm. It is in the same field as last year, just up from the pub. It was well supported last year and raised £2,180 for 3 charities. I am trying to raise sponsorship to help cover costs. Anyone interested in helping with this should contact me directly at kitty.s65@btinternet.com

Anais, a French student, will be working at the Butchers Arms for a week in June and July to help improve her English language. It will be a good experience for her.

The Butchers Arms is a very successful community pub with a local, national and international following. The pub was purchased and renovated by shareholders in 2011 and at that time was the 6th cooperative pub in the country. There are now over 30, with a regular stream of groups coming to explore our community ownership model.

Due to the planned share withdrawal by one of our corporate funders we have a small number of shares available. Do not miss your opportunity to become an investor.

The minimum shareholding is £250 and over the last two years the LCP has paid shareholder interest at 3%.

If you are interested in becoming a shareholder please complete an investment form detailing your financial interest and forward to the secretary (the email and postal addresses can be found on the contacts page). Please note that by completing a membership form at this point you are not committing yourself to buy a share simply lodging an interest.

If shares are available the Secretary will contact you otherwise you will be entered on our waiting lists and will be contacted when shares become available.
